Real butter, with a solid touch of tradition.
The butter – aptly named after the iconic Spitskop mountain peak prominently visible from the farm – is made on a small scale, with Maruis taking care of the finest detail to ensure consistency in, and the highest quality of, butter they produce.
Spitskop Botter is made from pasteurised jersey cream with only non-iodised salt added. It is, furthermore, processed as little as possible to ensure a smooth, marbleized appearance and structure, and the ultimate in butter taste.
Being a home industry, Spitskop Botter is available in limited quantities at select outlets in and around Cape Town, or can be ordered and collected directly from Maruis in Durbanville. It has also become the favoured butter for chefs who use it when preparing food, also to present it at their tables at many a fine-dining restaurant in the region.
